Jimothy the Raccoon to Replace Dubs as UW Mascot

September 24, 2026 by A.D.

Following the recent diarrhea-rug scandal, it has been unanimously decided that Dubs XVII will be the last Dubs of a long, prestigious pedigree; as such, he has been fired and surrendered to Seattle Humane. This morning, UW announced that the role will be filled by Jimothy the Raccoon, internet star and cutie patootie sweet baby boy.

UW Publicity Manager Bernadette Marklin stated to Off Leash News, “We felt that a change in representation was long overdue.” When asked for the reason, her face went slack, a gleam of resentment shining through her disappointed glare. She continued in a monotone caliber, “we all know what he did.”

Without the former mascot around to defend his reputation, rumors of Dubs’ tendency to throw back pup cups while on duty have proliferated. Despite his marriage of 3 years to Basset Hound Peanut Butter Jelly, he allegedly does so in the presence of, well, bitches. We asked Marklin whether these claims were true, to which she stated, “I legally can’t tell you, but let me put it this way: that’s the least of our worries.”

This decision likely springs from a desire for UW to distance itself from the Dubs brand, which has taken on a rather sinister connotation in recent years. The situation recalls incidents such as the release of the Dubs XII Files, as well as the infamous Pug-Great Dane breeding controversy which followed.

After abandoning the shards of the Dubs lineage, UW's Social Media Management Committee reached out to Jimothy by leaving a trail of peanut butter pretzels leading to an upside-down box propped up with a stick. He has been adopted by Marsha and Brent Saunders, Dubs' previous owners.

An Off Leash News reporter made the trek to Seattle Humane where Dubs now resides. As is standard for mascot interviews, she brought the Off Leash Dog ButtonsTM, a voiced vocabulary set designed for canine communications. When asked about his replacement, Dubs had this to say: "TREAT. TREAT. WALK. TREAT. TREAT. OUTSIDE."

Off Leash News also interviewed Jimothy, now well-situated in his sweet new pad. However, he kept pressing the same few buttons: "HELP ME," "MY BACK," "IT HURTS."
